Heatra Clasic Towel Warmer and Drying Rack Review

I'd seen Warmrails in a store, and ended up at amazon looking for the cheapest model I could find. We had more towels than we had towel racks (a wife and three kids can do that to you), and my towel was rarely completely dry for my morning shower. I wanted, if nothing else, an extra free-standing towel rack to put it on to air dry. So I tried this.

It worked better than I expected. Not only is my towel dry each morning for my shower, but when we put two other towels on it after the kids have a bath, they're dry by morning as well! Three towels, folded (so there's a six-towel thickness) neatly over the top of the rack will dry just fine in just 8-12 hours -- and the innermost towel ends up nice and toasty warm (the outtermost will basically be room temperature, maybe just slightly warmer on the half that's closest to the rack, but all three will be completely dry).

Some reviewers were disappointed their towels weren't toasty-warm -- in that case, I'd suggest a higher-priced model with denser heating elements, or putting extra towels on top and using from the inside. The manual does point out that how well it works will vary according to where you put it in your home -- in particular they recommend against any drafty places. Ours is in the master bedroom, just outside the master bath, and even with a ceiling fan on at times, it seems to do just fine.

All in all, it's more expensive than a towel rod from the local home store, but you don't have to attach it to the wall (a plus for me, as I didn't know where I'd put it if it weren't free standing). It's also probably cheaper on the electric bill (and easier) than dropping towels in the dryer each day.

Leifheit 81610 Combifix Mounted Clothes Dryer Review

I am a fan of Leifheit products. I like their quality and innovative style and this is why I bought the Leifheit Combifix clothes dryer. We have a small storage room and I was looking for a clothes dryer that wouldn't take up any of my limited floor space. After a bit of research, I once again decided on Leifheit. Here is the good and the not so good about this clothes dryer as I see it:

First the good:
1. I like the space-saving design of this product. It really folds down to virtually nothing and does not reach into the room when stored. Ideal for small spaces.
2. For being so small when folded up, it does offer quite a bit of drying line when unfolded. The nice thing is that one can also just use one side (i.e. a quarter circle) should space be at a real premium.
3. The dryer comes with two wall mounts. So one can be installed indoors, one outside on the patio or balcony for example. The dryer "bar" itself is easily removable and hooked into the other wall mount enabling clothes drying independent of weather conditions. A real plus as far as I am concerned.
4. Lastly, I like that there is a protective slider that slides over the arms with the lines when the dryer is not in use. That keeps the dryer lines dry and clean, especially important when using this product outside. It also makes it look aesthetically pleasing because it prevents the lines from dangling along the wall.

The not-so-good:
1. Leifheit is a European, specifically a German company. Their products are geared towards the European/German market. That showed when we attempted to mount the dryer to the wall. Since houses over there are built quite differently than here in the U.S. (European homes often have solid brick or concrete walls), the screws that come with the product are also geared towards such building materials, not towards the typical American dry wall construction. The result is that those screws failed to mount the dryer securely to the wall. The whole thing was so loose that it was unusable. Only after much adjusting and using other screws, etc. were we able to get this affixed to the wall. I believe that Leifheit should include different screws with the product when selling it in the U.S. market. The fact that these were not usable for us made putting the dryer up on the wall complicated and quite time-consuming.
2. The clothes lines do not tighten enough. Hanging something heavier than, let's say wet handkerchiefs will cause the lines to sag pretty significantly. There might be a way to tighten them some but I have not looked into the mechanism enough to figure it out. It would probably require to open the dryer up...

All in all and despite the cool-looking and space-saving design, this dryer might need some rework because as it stands it is not functional.

Household Essentials Hinge-It Spacemaker Double Bars Review

PROS:

- The bar is easy to install

- It is long enough for most towels -- folded

- It is sturdy enough to hold a couple of towels without them sliding off

CONS:

- The paint job/color is somewhat cheap

- The end caps are susceptible to falling off -- but that can be easily corrected

- The bar's brace on the hinge may rub against against the hinge and scratch it, but not badly (also correctable)

Despite the cons, it does the job for a decent price.Any other bar would probably have been more expensive.Since it is hidden behind the door most of the time it was not important to buy a more expensive/higher quality bar.Because I have not had to think or worry about it I give it 5 stars.

Stainless Steel Decanter Drying Rack And Tray Review

I bought this because it's the only type I could find with a tray which I thought was a good idea and nice addition. However the description "Fits all basic decanters" is very deceiving. Unless your decanter has a very short neck it won't work. The clearance from the ring to the bottom is only 8 inches: my decanter (by no means a fancy model) is just over 8 inches so its top hits the tray when suspended and would break the glass. I should have measured it, so beware: this unit will only work with the smallest of decanters!

This valet is definitely worth the money.My only suggestion is that if you are really going to load it up with hangers/clothes, mount it into a stud.If you must mount it on drywall, use heavy duty drywall screw in supports along with a machine screw (you'll need to buy these separately).But even with my mounting dilemma, the product is terrific.Once installed, you can have the arm lock into several different positions - including straight out.A great buy!

Simplehuman KT1025 System Stainless-Steel Dish Rack Review

I have gone through a couple of dishracks before this one which were terrible.They would discolor, were difficult to wash, and were nothing to really look at.They also took up a lot of space on my counter.I love this one, though!It has parts that are dishwasher-safe, removable parts for when you have large platters to place in there, and a section for knives to dry separately from the rest of the flatware.I also love that you can position it vertically or horizontally depending on how much space you have.Both ways have a drainage spout to pour into the sink. The cupholders are fairly strong and are removable which is a plus.Overall, a great product, great quality and very stylish compared to most other products out there.

The product itself, which is essentially a fan circulating air through the five mesh levels, does dry clothes much faster. It takes up very little space, so it's particularly useful for keeping smaller dwellings looking neat--- beats hanging underwear in the bathroom. The reason it doesn't get five stars is because the hangers do not sit securely on the mesh trays; the hangers have grooves which sit on the metal tubes which make up the edges of the mesh trays, but the hangers are easily dislodged (not a good idea if there are kids around). Overall it's quite useful.
